 How to Post Your Photos to a Meet Up Album

Go to SWFL Shutterbugs Meet Up Page https://www.meetup.com/fortmyersshutterbugs/

1.Select the Photos Tab

2.Select the Meet Up Event where you want to post your photo

3.Click on Add Photos in top Left-Hand Corner

4.Window Opens – Add Photos from your PC, Cell, Camera etc.

5.These photos must be in JPEG, GIF, or PNG format, be less than 10MB in size, and adhere to Meetup’s Terms of Service.

6.You can upload up to 10 photos per screen Hit Upload (Red Button) Bottom Left of Screen

New Members Album Added to Meet Up Site

1.We have added a new photo album where you can share your favorite photo(s) with the group outside of the meet up events.

2.Same process and rules apply as posting photos in any other album

3.Showcase your favorite photo(s) to the group 4.Selections will be showcased at our monthly meeting!

We had a terrific meeting with 25+ members and guests in attendance!  The agenda was ambitious as always.  Recognized our October Photo Contest Winners – Chris Stratton, Tami Reece and Fran Pastore.

November Photo Contest:  Portraits

A good portrait photo projects emotions that draw in viewers. The key to capturing an outstanding portrait is to focus on your subject. The image should reflect the subject’s personality, style and interests.  Remember the portrait has to be of a person or people!

  1. Camera options
    1. 1080 @ 24fps (60/120 or higher for slow motion)
    2. Auto White balance is okay
    3. ISO – as low as possible
    4. In a perfect world, shutter speed number should be twice fps
    5. Manual exposure has its place, say when walking in a room past a bright window
  2. Stabilize the camera
    1. Hand held – quick review of techniques
    2. Tripod – ideally with ‘fluid head’
    3. Gimbal (3 axis )
    4. In body image or in lens stabilization is great to have
  3. Shooting
    1. Change camera angles SLOOOWLY, moving in one direction, not back and forth
    2. Get one of each, if possible
      1. Wide – establishing (where are we)
      2. Medium – who or what is the subject
      3. Close – fill the screen with the action
      4. Extreme closeup – lets see the dots in the “i”’s
    3. Consider transitions
      1. Person or thing leaves the scene
      2. Thing moves behind something big in the foreground
      3. Pull up from looking down at ground
      4. Traveling into, out of small openings
    4. Perspectives
      1. Shoot living things at eye level, example “worms eye view”
      2. 3rd person and point of view
  4. Possible subjects
    1. Fountains shooting water up (play area)
    2. Peoples faces and activities
    3. Trains/peddle boats/etc
    4. Flowers
    5. Alligators?

  • Did you know that you have the right to photograph anything in public sight with very few exceptions? Read more . However, it is suggested that you don’t be stupid – smile and show your camera before taking someone’s image. You’ll quickly learn if that person might respond very negatively.
  • Who owns the Wedding Photograph rights? Read more

  • What if I make a SLIDESHOW and add music – do I need a license for the result? Read more.

On the first Saturday of October each year, photographers and enthusiasts around the world get out their cameras and meet up at a designated location in their town to walk around and take photographs, socialize, make new friends, win prizes, and be a part of a great cause during Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk™. Hello SWFL Shutterbugs – get ready for our next photo contest!  Due September 29th by 9PM – send your jpeg files to swflshutterbugs@gmail.com  Note:  there is NO location for this event!  Photos are collected and then judging will take place the following Saturday at our monthly Brunch & Cameras Meeting!

Here is a recap of the slides we viewed at the meeting for this contest.  This will require a bit of attention and study on your part.  Motion photography is rarely a slam dunk one shot affair!  Tip:  Read the website material, view the videos, take notes, practice practice practice, take your prize winning masterpiece and then submit by September 29th
